Meet the 2011 Lugar Scholars - Pedro Lodise

U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar presented Lake Central High School student Pedro Lodise with a four-year $4,000 college scholarship on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at an Indianapolis banquet honoring outstanding minority high school seniors from across the state.

Given through the Fund for Hoosier Excellence (FHE), ten high school African-American, Native American or Hispanic seniors are named Lugar Scholars each year. Eight $4,000 scholarships are awarded and two $20,000 scholarships are awarded, one each to a boy and a girl. Each recipient must study at an Indiana college or university.

Lodise showed academic excellence through High Honor Roll designation during every semester of his high school career.

He has demonstrated leadership through his role as Ambassador for the National Honor Society and as a member of the Junior Class Cabinet.  He is also a member of the Chemistry Club and an Academic Letter winner.

Lodise serves as a volunteer for Dollars for Scholars, Interact, and the Gold Star Honor Roll project. He also works a part-time job.

He plans to study Engineering in the fall at Purdue University.
