2013 Scholar - Natalie Jackson

U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar presented Mishawaka High School student Natalie Jackson with a four-year $4,000 college scholarship on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at an Indianapolis banquet honoring outstanding minority high school seniors from across the state.

 

Natalie is musically inclined in many ways. At an early age, she taught herself to play both the piano and the guitar. She served as First Chair Violin and President of her high school Orchestra, and has won multiple awards for her artwork, including a 2nd place congressional art award.

 

Natalie demonstrated servant leadership as a volunteer in various food drives and participation in the “Pack a Backpack” program. She was a four-year member of the basketball team, and won the “Mental Toughness” award for the team. She was a member of student council for three years, and served as secretary for the National Honor Society.

                                        

In her spare time, Natalie worked part time at Old Navy and tutors some of her fellow students.
