U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar presented Lawrence North High School student Christian Neal with a four-year $4,000 college scholarship on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at an Indianapolis banquet honoring outstanding minority high school seniors from across the state.
Christian has served as a member of the Principal’s Advisory Council, the Student Athletic Council, and Co-Captain of the Track and Field team. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and the National Society of Black Engineers.
Christian has participated for several summers in both the Minority Engineering Advancement Program at IUPUI and the Multi-Ethnic Introduction to Engineering at Purdue University. After a rigorous interview process, he was selected by Roche Diagnostics as an intern in the Mechanical Engineering department. Christian will graduate with a Spanish Immersion Diploma in addition to his Academic Honors Diploma. He feels that his bilingual skills will be an asset to gaining international engineering experience.
Christian plans to attend Purdue University and major in Aerospace Engineering.
