U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar presented Munster High School student Sydney Puckett with a four-year $4,000 college scholarship on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at an Indianapolis banquet honoring outstanding minority high school seniors from across the state.
Sydney demonstrated athletic ability as a member of the Basketball team, the Tennis team, and as Co-Captain and Member of the Golf Team. Sydney was a member of the Robotics Club, French Club, and Junior Engineering Technical Society.
Sydney gives back to her community by volunteering at the First Baptist Church Food Pantry. Additionally, she serves as President of the Junior Usher Board at her church. This well-rounded young woman has also attended the Purdue University Minority Engineering Program and in the summer of 2013 worked as a Youth Tennis Instructor for Muster Parks and Recreation.
Sydney is looking forward to pursuing an Engineering degree at Purdue University.
